My understanding of the traditional rules is that (excluding pacos) each bid has to fit one of the following two conditions:
- AT LEAST as many dice as the previous bid and a HIGHER VALUE on the dice
- MORE dice than the previous bid and ANY VALUE on the dice
It seems like the rules here instead require one of these two conditions:
- EXACTLY as many dice as the previous bid and a HIGHER VALUE on the dice
- MORE dice than the previous bid and A LOWER OR EQUAL VALUE on the dice
So for example I would expect to be able to bid 7 sixes over 6 threes, but the game will only let me bid 6 sixes. Is this a bug or do I just have a misunderstanding of the traditional rules?
Thanks :)
- There are a lot of different sets of rules available for this game (including Liar's Dice, the commercially published game Perudo, and other online rules for traditional Perudo), and I haven't read most of them in any detail. I wanted to avoid changing something only to find out people already thought it was right how it was.
- There are no previously existing community requests for this change, and even if it is a correct reflection of most versions of the rules, I am hesitant to swap something people are definitely playing for something that they might also like to play.
For these reasons I will keep an eye on this bug and any similar reports that pop up, but it's likely that I will avoid making this change until/unless there is pressure from a lot of Perudo players to do so.
all higher bids should be allowed. the current implementation is some bizarra hybrid.
Then in the next round, the last player bid 5 threes and I want to bid fives but I'm limited to bidding 5 of them.
I should have the option to make a high bid if I want to, to pressure my opponents and try to make sure the action doesn't get back round to me.
I've been playing this game on BGA since before the traditional bidding style was introduced, but I didn't notice this restriction until now, possibly just because the scenario never came up where I wanted to make this kind of bid. I definitely think the game should allow higher bids of any number.
