Loads in duck duck go browser. All other games work fine. Just Copenhagen hangs on trying to open
Heading off to try to update my browser and see if that will fix it...
I reload the page severals times but it didnt success.
Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback! Also - I am sorry for the bad reputation accrued to this bug. I don't know that I'm able to fix the karma scores directly, but I can prioritize fixing this bug so it stops happening in the first place. I've wrapped up an issue with the dev code base that was causing input issues on mobile, so I'll prioritize looking at loading issues next.
It seems like this bug might be two different bugs:
- Some people are playing on browsers that don't work with the game 100% of the time
- Some people are experiencing the game randomly working and not working on the same browser.
I'll start thinking about how to tackle this.
So far, I haven't been able to recreate it. I've tried:
- Starting 10 hotseat games on the live version. All were 2-player.
- Starting 10 "Play with friends" games on the live version. All were 2-player.
I'm on PC, Chrome Version 102.0.5005.115
------------------------
Checking out Lord Buxley's play log - the problematic games may be:
June 2 | 2-player | boardgamearena.com/table?table=272310133 | 3 turns | timeout
June 3 | 2-player | boardgamearena.com/table?table=272409418 | 61 turns | no timeout
June 3 | 2-player | boardgamearena.com/table?table=272555854 | 2 turns | timeout
June 3 | 2-player | boardgamearena.com/table?table=272550453 | 54 turns | timeout
June 3 | 2-player | boardgamearena.com/table?table=272554322 | 2 turns | no timeout
Most of the impacted games were back-to-back, with one outlier happening the day before.
Looks like they've started about 26 games of Copenhagen.
@Lord Buxley - a few questions to help me reproduce the problem:
- Were there any games where you were able to take a turn, and then later the game froze up?
- Were you playing on the same device each time, or were you moving between different devices?
- Can you tell me what those browsers were?
- Were you playing on the same browser each time, or were you moving between different browsers?
- Can you tell me what browser version you were on?
- If you're willing, could you start a hotseat game in training mode (which won't affect your karma any more), and see if the issue happens there too?
If this issue happens again on PC, right clicking somewhere in the screen, selecting "Inspect", going to Console, and copying and pasting any errors there (usually in red) would be super helpful to me.
Thanks!
So I switched to my laptop. boardgamearena.com/table?table=276375444. This is the table and I felt really bad for the poor lady I was playing with because I tried to concede the game but it won't let you unless it's 50% played which is ridiculous especially with beta someone needs to look at adjusting that so that does not apply with beta and you can get out without having to take a black mark on your reputation because a game doesn't work properly. Anyway my laptop uses Firefox as its browser and the game opens fine on the laptop however, there's a totally different issue on the laptop but does not allow me to play. I can select and discard cards but that is the only thing I can do. When I click on a piece to try to place it in the house I am unable to move it it will not drag and drop using the built-in Mouse on the laptop. So I tried connecting an external Mouse and using that, same thing I can click the piece it highlights it red but I can't move it and I don't get any little round circle option under my house like the other player was telling me that would allow me to move anything. I don't know why the dragging feature is not working except to say that it's obviously not programmed correctly to be used by any browser. Exactly what browser was this game created to work in?
It's been years since I did any sort of programming myself but there used to be sites out there that would help you make sure that whatever you were developing would run on multiple browsers / platforms. I suggest that someone might want to take a look at it such a thing still exists out there to help with the development of this program because so far to browsers zero functionality. I really really would like to play this game as it looks like a really cool game it's just a shame that it seems like it doesn't work under any circumstances.

I've emailed with one of the admins of Board Game Arena, and he said he'll be able to cancel these games. Just sent them to him now - will check in with him again next week.
If there are ones I missed, or you have trouble with any game in the future, you can write to support to request a game is cancelled at: boardgamearena.com/support
You're right that I'll need to work with a service to test a variety of browsers - I'm able to cover some with my personal hardware, but there's more to go. So far, the browsers that have worked for me have been:
- Chrome on PC | Version 102.0.5005.115
- Firefox on PC | Version 101.0.1
- Edge on PC | Version 102.0.1245.44
- Chrome on Mac | Version 102.0.5005.61
- Safari on Mac | Version 15.5
- Safari on iPad | iPad OS Version 15.5
- Chrome on Android | Version 102.0.5005.125
Would you be willing to check what version of Firefox is on your laptop?
As for placing the facade tiles on the house - you're right that both clicking the tile and dragging the tile should work. I noticed that you mentioned the tile was highlighted red. In that case it wouldn't work, as you wouldn't have enough cards of that color to pay for that tile. The tiles you can afford would highlight white instead.
Would you be willing to access the tutorial on your laptop to see if it works for you? Since it plays the same way each time, it could make it easier for us to nail down where the issues are. It's at: boardgamearena.com/tutorial?game=copenhagen&tutorial=871
