Trading is a core part of the game. This BGA adaptation allows a player to turn it off completely - they will just never see any trade offers. Very few people do this, but I've run into them in a few games. For me, this totally ruins the enjoyment of the game. If they reject trades, that's fine, they saw what the offer was. When another player doesn't even see what trades I offered, it's a different game, it's not real Catan, and it's very much NOT a game I want to play, ever! But there isn't a way to really avoid that, so I get stuck in games where I either have to keep on going despite someone never seeing trade offers, or lose reputation if I quit. Yuck.
Add a table option: "Allow disabling trades for more than the current turn?"
If the option is set to yes, then the ability to disable trades can work as it currently does.
If the option is set to no, then people can only disable trades in response to a trade offer, and that setting will only last until the end of the current player's turn. So, everyone will see a player's first trade offer on their turn, every time, even though they may choose to not see any further trade offers on that same turn.
I don't especially care whether the default is yes or no. If this option were added, I'd always set it to "no" on my tables, and just never join any tables where it is set to "yes". I and other people who think trading is a core part of the game could enjoy our games without being afflicted by the people who want to play without ever seeing trades, while they could enjoy their own games where that continues to be allowed. -
