Twice now I wanted to start a longer-term, turn-based game just amongst my (BGA) friends.
I set up the game, restrict admission to "My Friends", and wait for my friends to join.
After some days, not enough friends have joined to start the game, so overnight I find the game got marked as abandoned. That much is fine (although the suggestion to set player-count _ranges_ would help here).
What I also find, though, is that I have been added to _another_ instance of the same game, but with complete strangers! I did not choose this, and now if I drop out of that game my rep takes a hit.
This only seems to happen when I have to start a game via the new game lobby screen - with the old game lobby screen this issue doesn't seem to arise.
This has happened to me at least twice now. A current example is Beyond the Sun:
I set up this 4-plyr game restricted to "My Friends", but only one friend joined: boardgamearena.com/table?table=383139078
This morning I wake up to find it has now been abandoned (OK, fine), but:
I find I am now joined into this 3-plyr game of Beyond the Sun with 2 strangers: boardgamearena.com/6/beyondthesun?table=383219258
I didn't ask to join the game, and don't want to play it - but if I just quit it, I get a reputation penalty. • Hvilken browser bruger du?

Rapporthistorik
Table I was auto-joined to: 383219258
Game I started that was restricted to my "My Friends" group: boardgamearena.com/table?table=496382612
- initiated on Sunday afternoon 7th April 2024 (Melb, Australia time)
- found abandoned this morning (Monday 8th)
- found myself instead joined to a game with strangers: boardgamearena.com/3/beyondthesun?table=497064492
I note that I started two other games (one Feast for Odin and one New Frontiers) at the same time, and both of these are still looking OK - FfO has filled up and started, while NF is still waiting for one more player.
Given this bug, I do double-check all games I start now to be sure the group setting is correct, and the game of BtS did sit there for a while with two of my friends joining (and no one outside my friends group joining), so it does seem it was correctly restricting access, before it became abandoned.
Your bug has probably been fixed already, or was linked to a temporary failure of BGA service.
In any case, when filling a bug report, make sure to have an explicit title linked to the incident (ex: with error message), so other players can recognize it and vote for it.
