Om Yahtzee Winter Olympics
Welcome to the 2025-2026 Yahtzee Winter Olympics!
After an eventful 2024 Olympics season throughout last year, I'm happy to restart a smaller series of tournaments to celebrate the upcoming Winter Olympics in Northern Italy.
This will be a shorter and smaller season. One large tournament will be scheduled every Friday over 24 weeks (with a rotating game type, starting with Maxi Yatzy). Each weekly tournament will celebrate an edition of the Winter Olympics. The season will begin on August 22 and a "finale" week will see 6 concurrent tournaments, scheduled to start at the same time as the opening ceremony in Milano, on February 6, 2026 :)
I'm also experimenting a bit with the format. The tournaments will start with a round-robin Groups stage (8 groups). The winner of each group will qualify to the medal games (quarterfinals, semifinals and final). This means tournaments will be registered under the "Groups Stage" type. Games will have a longer maximum duration, to account for the possibly large amount of round robin-games. I might alter the format before opening the first tournament for registration.
