I've noticed the published rules have not clearly explained how we will determine who advances from quarters to semis and from semis to final in the event that players are tied on total tournament points. The system will be as follows:
- Winners of the previous playoff round advance automatically
- Remaining spaces filled by total tournament points (including points added for playoff game results)
- If tied, the stronger result in the previous playoff round ranks higher. If equal, we look at the playoff round before that (if applicable).
- Finally we'll consider the buchholz tiebreak from the preliminary round standings (this will not be updated with the playoff results).
