Prove your worth and and collect the most stars by traveling the mountain and assembling as many landscape tiles as possible, meeting the forest spirits and lighting fires on the peaks creating a path through the valley.
The tile capture mechanisms are taken from the hanafuda mechanisms. Collect a tile according to the column or row then place them in your landscape. The goal of the game will be to reconstruct a landscape by combining its tiles to score as many points as possible. As a Renaissance banker, you will finance kings or republics, sponsor voyages of discovery, join secret cabals, or unleash jihads and inquisitions. Your choices determine whether Europe is elevated into the bright modern era or remains festering in dark feudalism.
Pax Renaissance is a card drafting and tableau building game, in which you take cards in order to form rows in the East and West (or simply use them directly as a one-time effect), which you can later activate for several effects. You do these things in order to spread your influence over Europe and nearby regions, take concessions around trade routes (to likely gain money) or influence places, move armies to make war campaigns, fund rebellions, gain political and religious renown, all in order to achieve one or more of the 4 winning conditions Pax Renaissance has.
As in other Pax games, you can acquire cards in a market, sell them out of the game, or play them into your tableau. You can also stimulate the economy by running trade fairs and trading voyages for Oriental goods.
It is a fantastic and complex game, yet not so deeply hard to grasp and play. It has a tremendous richness of choices, options, and historical bits, which, all together, provide a tasty and fulfilling experience.

Puzzling and animal breeding: Designer Uwe Rosenberg is at his best!
New York Zoo is what is called a polyomino puzzle game. The idea is that you want to be the first player to have their zoo board filled with multiform Tetris-like puzzle pieces, each representing a cage or enclosure.
Build animal enclosures, introduce new animals, and raise their offspring. The game play is straight forward as you have only two turn options: puzzle a new enclosure tile into your zoo area or gain new animals to populate your animal enclosures. But be sure to time your actions well since you want your zoo to participate in as many animal breedings as possible.
You start with a zoo board and two animals, which are placed in the "indoor enclosures" on the left side of the board.
After that, players take turns moving the elephant on the center board with one to four (or three based on your player count) squares to grab a tile with an outdoor enclosure or two animals for your zoo.
If you choose to grab an outdoor enclosure, you will need to place it in your zoo and add an animal that comes from your indoor cage or from one of the other enclosure tiles in your zoo. If you take animals, you can place them in one of your pens or on one of the cages on your board. It is important to note that each outdoor enclosure tile can only contain one type of animal.
As the elephant walks around the center board, it also passes the so-called breeding areas. When this happens, animals can multiply, but only when there are two of the same on a field tile, a third is added.
Once one of your areas is full of animals, move it from your board back to the supply, keep one in an indoor enclosure if you wish, and get an attraction tile to fill up your zoo faster. The game ends when the first player completely fills their zoo with accommodation and attraction tiles. He or she is the winner.
It is as simple as that. And it is brilliant.

NEW YORK ZOO: Ja, vi skal danse, danse!
... og du kommer til at rykke rundt på en masse brikker og dyrebrikker.
Puslespil og dyr: Designeren Uwe Rosenberg når han er bedst!
New York Zoo er et såkaldt polyomino-puslespil. Formålet er, at blive den første til at fylde sit zoologiske have område med forskelligartede Tetris-lignende puslebrikker, som hver især repræsenterer et bur eller en indhegning.
Der skal bygges indhegninger, introduceres nye dyr og deres unger skal opfostres. Spillet er så ligetil, at der kun er to muligheder i hver tur: læg en ny indhegningsbrik i din zoo eller få nye dyr til at udfylde indhegningerne. Men sørg for at time disse handlinger rigtigt, da din zoo skal kunne tage del i så mange dyreformeringer som muligt.
Du begynder med en zoo med to dyr, som placeres i en "indendørs indhegning" i venstre side af pladen.
Derefter skiftes spillerne til at rykke elefanten frem på den fælles centrale spilleplade. Der rykkes en til fire (eller 3 alt efter antal spillere) felter, og så kan man tage enten en udendørs indhegning eller to dyr til sin zoo.
Vælger du en udendørs indhegning skal den placeres i din zoo og der skal tilføjes et dyr til den, enten fra den indendørs indhegning eller fra en af de andre indhegninger i din zoo. Hvis du tager dyr, kan de placeres i en af indhegningerne, men det er vigtigt at bemærke at hver indhegning kun kan indeholde én type af dyr.
Mens elefanten vandrer rundt om pladen, kommer den også forbi såkaldte avlsområder. Når dette sker, kan dyrene formere sig, men kun i områder med mindst to af samme art. Her vil man så tilføje en ekstra.
Så snart et af dine områder er fyldt ud, fjernes dyrene og returneres til den fælles forsyning. Du må gerne beholde ét i en indendørs indhegning. Hvis du ønsker, kan du få en attraktionsbrik for hurtigere at kunne udfylde din zoo. Spillet slutter når en spiller får fyldt hele deres zoo med indhegninger og attraktioner, og denne spiller er vinderen.
Så enkelt er det. Og det er genialt.

Discard the best cards from your hand in order to score the least points.
To win, you will need to have the least points at the end of the game. You can do this by discarding the highest cards OR keeping only those of the same suit.
Mojo is an abstract family game about hand management and matching. The idea is that players will play their cards trying to have the least value in their hands when the round is over and points equal to the numbers on the cards. However, only one card of each color scores, the highest value. The players who gets down to 3 cards (or 2 cards, in 2p games) continue their gameplay by placing these 3 cards on the table and revealing them one by one when it is their turn.
Once someone is out of cards or when someone reveals their 3rd card, the round is over and players count their points. The person who was out of cards (or who revealed the 3rd card, if no one was out of cards) gets the Mojo card, which carries a danger: if the person who has this card is not the person with the lowest score for the round, they will get +10 points added to their total. The game ends in the round when someone has 50+ points, and the person with the lowest score is the winner!

MOJO: Hear me tonight, 'Cause my feeling... is just so right!
Kassér de bedste kort fra din hånd, for at optjene færrest point.
For at vinde, skal du have færrest point, når spillet er slut. Du kan gøre dette ved at kassere det højeste kort ELLER ved at beholde kort i samme farve.
Mojo er et abstrakt familievenligt spil om at opbygge og håndtere en hånd af kort. Princippet er, at spillerne skal spille deres kort og forsøge at opnå den laveste pointværdi på deres hånd når runden er slut. Pointene svarer til tallene på kortene. Det er dog kun det højeste kort i hver farve, der giver point. Spillere som når ned på 3 kort (eller 2 kort i spil for 2), fortsætter spillet ved at lægge kortene på bordet ét ad gangen, når det er deres tur.
Når en spiller er løbet tør for kort, eller når en spiller afslører sit 3. kort, er runden slut og spillerne tæller deres point. Spilleren som løb tør for kort (eller som afslørede sit 3. kort, hvis ingen løb tør) for Mojo-kortet, som bringer en fare med sig: Hvis personen med dette kort ikke har den laveste score i runden, får de +10 point til deres score. Spillet slutter i den runde, hvor en spiller får 50 eller flere point og spilleren med færrest point vinder!

Adapt in an ever-changing ecosystem where food is scarce and predators lurk. (Sounds familiar, right?)
Evolution relies on good management of resources and the multiple characteristics of the species in our possession. A game is divided into several rounds, each of which is divided into 3 stages. First, all players secretly decide on the potential food available in the dedicated space. The strategy starts now, as the food pool is shared by all players... so whoever eats first (in turn order) has a clear advantage. Once this choice has been made, players are invited to select the cards of their choice in order to perfect the species they own, design new ones, increase populations, or even increase the size (and therefore the defence) of a species. A large number of cards are available, each with its own criteria.
Once this stage is complete, each player's population, defences, and characteristics are laid out in front of him. The available food is revealed, and each player has access to it in turn order, with a few subtleties if the cards played beforehand suggest so.
The round ends as soon as all the animals have been fed, or there is simply no food left... all animals without food perish. Food points acquired are accumulated and added up for each player. They are then taken into account at the end of the game.
Once all the rounds have been completed, the points are tallied. They take into account the food ingested, whatever the diet, the characteristics of the species and the number of species still alive.
At the beginning, the difficulties are even less, as the herbivores feed in a totally passive way, and the impact on the rest of the players is minimal. A little gumption is enough to win the game by multiplying your populations while keeping an eye on available food.
The game becomes progressively more difficult with the addition of carnivores... which, in turn, inevitably have an impact on the other players. Carnivores, the offspring of transformed herbivores, require meat, and will therefore aggressively attack neighboring populations. A definite asset, but one to be handled with great care. Indeed, prey must be smaller and unguarded, and the latter have many strategies at their disposal to avoid attack- but in the case of a successful aggression, the attacked player quickly finds himself deprived of a large part of his population!
Evolution packs a surprising amount of variety for a game with simple rules. The variety comes from the synergies between the trait cards and from the different personalities at the table. Some players thrive on creating Carnivores to wreak havoc on their fellow players. Others prefer to stay protected and mind their own business. Evolution encourages both play styles by giving each of them multiple paths to victory. And it is the mix of play styles at the table that ultimately determines the ecosystem in which the players are adapting. So gather your friends and see who can best adapt to the changing world around them.

EVOLUTION: Vil du turde vinde?
Tilpas dig i et konstant foranderligt økosystem, hvor mad er knap, og rovdyr lurer. (Lyder bekendt, ikke?)
Evolution er afhængig af god forvaltning af ressourcer og de mange karakteristika ved arten i vores besiddelse. Et spil er opdelt i flere runder, som hver er opdelt i 3 trin. For det første beslutter alle spillere i hemmelighed den potentielle mad, der er tilgængelig i det dedikerede rum. Strategien starter nu, da madpuljen deles af alle spillere... så den, der spiser først (i rækkefølge) har en klar fordel. Når dette valg er truffet, opfordres spillerne til at vælge de kort efter eget valg for at perfektionere de arter, de ejer, designe nye, øge bestandene eller endda øge størrelsen (og dermed forsvaret) af en art. Et stort antal kort er tilgængelige, hver med sine egne kriterier.
Når denne fase er fuldført, er hver spillers befolkning, forsvar og karakteristika lagt ud foran ham. Den tilgængelige mad afsløres, og hver spiller har adgang til den i tur og orden, med et par finesser, hvis de kort, der spilles på forhånd, tyder på det.
Runden slutter så snart alle dyr er blevet fodret, eller der er simpelthen ikke mad tilbage... alle dyr uden mad går til grunde. Madpoint erhvervet akkumuleres og lægges sammen for hver spiller. De tages så i betragtning ved slutningen af spillet.
Når alle runderne er gennemført, er pointene talt op. De tager hensyn til den mad, der indtages, uanset kosten, artens karakteristika og antallet af arter, der stadig lever.
I starten er vanskelighederne endnu mindre, da planteæderne fodrer på en totalt passiv måde, og påvirkningen på resten af spillerne er minimal. Lidt gumption er nok til at vinde spillet ved at multiplicere din befolkning, mens du holder øje med tilgængelig mad.
Spillet bliver gradvist vanskeligere med tilføjelsen af kødædere... som igen uundgåeligt har en indvirkning på de andre spillere. Kødædere, afkom af transformerede planteædere, kræver kød og vil derfor aggressivt angribe nabopopulationer. Et klart aktiv, men et der skal håndteres med stor omhu. Faktisk skal byttedyr være mindre og ubevogtet, og sidstnævnte har mange strategier til deres rådighed for at undgå angreb - men i tilfælde af en vellykket aggression, finder den angrebne spiller sig hurtigt frataget en stor del af sin befolkning!
Evolution indeholder en overraskende mængde af variation til et spil med enkle regler. Variationen kommer fra synergierne mellem egenskabskortene og fra de forskellige personligheder ved bordet. Nogle spillere trives med at skabe Carnivores for at skabe kaos på deres medspillere. Andre foretrækker at forblive beskyttede og tage sig af deres egen sag. Evolution tilskynder begge spillestile ved at give hver af dem flere veje til sejr. Og det er blandingen af spillestile ved bordet, der i sidste ende bestemmer det økosystem, som spillerne tilpasser sig. 4 colors with values from 1 to 4.
In turn, each player draws a visible or hidden card and places it in their playing area.
When a pile is empty, the game stops and the points are counted.
Each player tries to score points by forming colored areas of at least 5 adjacent cards.
But players also try to respect the way of grouping the cards.
Otherwise they will lose points.
- a "4" must be in a group of exactly four "4s"
- a "3" must be in a group of exactly three "3s"
- a "2" must be in a group of exactly two "2s"
- a "1" must not be in contact with any other "1"
Butterflies present on certain cards earn a point if they are adjacent to a card of their color.

Efter tur trækker hver spiller et synligt eller skjult kort og placerer det i deres spilleområde.
Når en bunke er tom, stopper spillet, og pointene tælles.
Hver spiller forsøger at score point ved at danne farvede områder med mindst 5 tilstødende kort.
Men spillerne må også forsøge at respektere måden at gruppere kortene på.
Ellers mister de point.
- en "4" skal være i en gruppe på præcis fire "4'ere"
- en "3" skal være i en gruppe på præcis tre "3'ere"

2212: Ginkgo Biloba, the oldest and strongest tree in the world, has become the symbol of a new method for building cities in symbiosis with nature. Humans have exhausted the resources that the Earth offered them, and humanity must now develop cities that maintain a delicate balance between resource production and consumption. Habitable space is scarce, however, and mankind must now face the challenge of building ever upwards. To develop this new type of city, you will gather a team of experts around you, and try to become the best urban planner for Ginkgopolis.
In Ginkgopolis, the city tiles come in three colors: yellow, which provides victory points; red, which provides resources; and blue, which provides new city tiles. Some tiles start in play, and they are surrounded by letter markers that show where new tiles can be placed.
Begin with three Character cards which grant you starting resources and bonuses to power your game actions. On a turn, players choose a Construction or Urbanization card from their hand simultaneously. Players reveal these cards, adding new tiles to the border of the city in the appropriate location or placing tiles on top of existing tiles. Each card in your hand that you do not play is passed on to your left-hand neighbor, so keep in mind how your play might set up theirs!
When you build over a tile, you add its “power" card to your tableau, which provides you additional abilities during the game, allowing you to scale up your building and point-scoring efforts.
Build upwards as well as outwards to control the most buildings in a future eco-city!

GING... GINGKO... GINKGOPOLIS, det handler om en urbanistisk... urbanistisk distopia!
2212: Ginkgo Biloba, det ældste og stærkeste træ i verden, er blevet symbolet på en ny metode til at bygge byer i symbiose med naturen. Mennesker har opbrugt de ressourcer, som Jorden tilbød dem, og menneskeheden skal nu udvikle byer, der opretholder en delikat balance mellem ressourceproduktion og forbrug. Beboelig plads er imidlertid knap, og menneskeheden må nu stå over for udfordringen med at bygge stadig opad. For at udvikle denne nye type by vil du samle et team af eksperter omkring dig og prøve at blive den bedste byplanlægger for Ginkgopolis.
I Ginkgopolis kommer byfliserne i tre farver: gul, som giver sejrspoint; rød, som giver ressourcer; og blå, som giver nye byfliser. Nogle fliser starter i spil, og de er omgivet af bogstavmarkører, der viser, hvor nye fliser kan placeres.
Begynd med tre karakterkort, som giver dig startressourcer og bonusser til at drive dine spilhandlinger. På en tur vælger spillerne et konstruktions- eller urbaniseringskort fra deres hånd samtidigt. But wait, what exactly is "the Arena?"
The Arena is the competitive mode on BGA. If you master a game and want to play it competitively, this is THE mode to use, so you can challenge the best players and get the most experience points.
The Arena is organized in seasons of 3 months each. Achievements are awarded to the best players at the end of each season.
To play in the Arena: select "Play" and then choose "Arena" instead of "Simple game."
Arena format and Gurus
In the previous seasons, it was you (more exactly the gurus) who chose the game formats for the Arena: player number, options used, ...
We are very happy to see that this way of doing things contributed to making the Arena more popular: thank you to all gurus for their smart suggestions and their votes!
Rules updates
No Arena rules are changing this season. It does not mean we are 100% satisfied with how the Arena is running, but you seem to appreciate the current rules so we want to keep them as they are for now.
Season 17 is NOW Launched.
The new Arena is now open for its new season.
Some Explanation About: Relegations
At the end of each season, after winners have been awarded, you are relegated.
Some custom relegation rules may have been applied to games for some reason (ex: we decided to update the number of leagues), but in general here is what happens:
- For games with 6 or 5 different leagues, all players are decreased by 3 leagues.
- For games with 4 different leagues, all players are decreased by 2 leagues.
- For games with 2 or 3 different leagues, all players are decreased by 1 league.
- For all games and all leagues, your number of Arena points is reset to 1, and your AES ("Arena Elo") is reset to 1500.
It's up to you to find the way to the elite!

Men vent, hvad er "the Arena?"
Arenaen er den konkurrerende tilstand på BGA. Hvis du mestrer et spil og ønsker at spille det konkurrencedygtigt, er dette DEN tilstand, du skal bruge, så du kan udfordre de bedste spillere og få flest erfaringspoint.
Arenaen er organiseret i sæsoner på 3 måneder hver. Præstationer tildeles de bedste spillere i slutningen af hver sæson.
For at spille i Arenaen: vælg "Spil" og vælg derefter "Arena" i stedet for "Simpelt spil".
Arena-format og guruer
I de foregående sæsoner var det dig (mere præcist guruerne), der valgte spilformaterne for Arenaen: spillernummer , brugte muligheder, ...

Regelopdateringer
Ingen Arena-regler ændres i denne sæson. Det betyder ikke, at vi er 100% tilfredse med, hvordan Arenaen kører, men du ser ud til at sætte pris på de nuværende regler, så vi vil gerne beholde dem, som de er indtil videre.

I slutningen af hver sæson, efter at vinderne er blevet tildelt, rykker du ned.
Nogle tilpassede nedrykningsregler kan være blevet anvendt på spil af en eller anden grund (f.eks.: vi besluttede at opdatere antallet af ligaer), men generelt er der, hvad der sker:
- For spil med 6 eller 5 forskellige ligaer reduceres alle spillere med 3 ligaer.
- For spil med 4 forskellige ligaer reduceres alle spillere med 2 ligaer.
- For spil med 2 eller 3 forskellige ligaer reduceres alle spillere med 1 liga.
