You are a top talent agent in charge of hiring actors for the next great show. Choose from the many colorful characters in Flip Valley to make the perfect cast.

FlipToons is a deckbuilding game where each player buys cards that increase their chances of gaining fame points when laid out on a grid. Fame points allow you to buy better cards and get rid of bad cards.

Objective

Once any player reaches 30 fame, all players compare casts in a Final Flip. The player with the highest number of fame points wins.

SOLO: Reach 30 Fame during a Check Fame phase before the Deck runs out (the deck is 30/27/24 cards (easy/normal/hard) after the market setup).

How to Play

Each player's turn consists of 5 phases.

1. Flip

At the beginning of a round, each player flips cards into a 3x2 grid from left to right, top to bottom. Some card abilities change their worth or how many cards are placed and where.

2. Check Fame

Each Toon in the grid is evaluated for how much fame they have generated. Fame is marked to the left of the grid.

If any player generated 30 or more points The player who initiated the Final Flip gets the "critic's choice" award, which adds 3 points to their Final Flip total.

3. Market

A player can make up to two actions, either two of the same, one of each, or only one, or skip all.

Hire a Toon

Each Toon in the market has a "fame price" above it. Higher ranking Toons are more expensive. Spend earned fame on one Toon, which is placed on top of the deck.

Dismiss a Toon

Choose a Toon revealed in the player's grid. That card is removed from the game by spending 5 fame points and does not go back into the player's deck at any time. This action cannot be taken if the player has four or less cards in their deck. Fame is not recalculated.

Note: Unspent fame does not carry over to the next round.

4. Refill the Market

If there are fewer than 5 cards in the market, cards are revealed from the Toon deck to replace them. Cards are then rearranged according to rank. This may mean any given card may be a lower or higher price for the next player. If the market is ever depleted, the Final Flip is instantiated.

5. Cleanup

All cards in each player's grid are collected back into their deck. The decks are then reshuffled. (In two-player games, the leftmost and rightmost cards in the market are discarded, then refilled.) The "first player" token is passed to the next player. If any player generated at least 30 fame in the previous "Check Fame" phase, players proceed to the Final Flip. Otherwise, a new round starts.

If playing with solo/two players, the leftmost and rightmost cards in the market are discarded, refilled and rearranged by rank.

Final Flip

All players complete one last flip phase and check fame phase. The player who generated the Final Flip gets an additional 3 fame for their "Critic's Choice" award. The player who generates the most fame has assembled the best cast of characters and wins.
