Yes, I know it's been proposed in the past.
First ticket, it says it is a good idea, but it is rejected. Shouldn't it be acknowledged?.
Second ticket says since it was proposed already, it is rejected.
Many implementation in BGA do allow for you to check a "I will pass the rest of this phase" while allowing you to disable that and still get your turn if you are in time.
It would be a HUGE help in async games in which, for example, 3 players do not want to sell, do not have money to buy more, and the other one is buying cheap options. 3/4 rounds of buying can take a couple of days, depending on the availability of everyone.

On the 18xx.games website, the developers have enabled the ability for plans to enable Auto Buys and Auto Pass Options.

Especially for Asynchronous Games, it greatly improves the game speed as players can enable Auto Buys for various targets. For example, when all players for floating a company, when Auto Buy is enabled, floating occurs nearly instantaneous rather than over days of async play.
Also, as explained in the 18xx wiki, there are built in protections that eliminate shenanigans so players cannot abuse this feature.
Can this feature be added to City of the Big Shoulder to improve the online play of the Stock Rounds?
